Joining Fee
An association-registration fee is required of all new members. This fee is to be paid in full at the time of enrollment. Memberships that have expired or have been cancelled for more than 30 days are subject to repayment of the registration fee to renew membership.

Payment Options

  1. APP: Electronically deducts your monthly dues from your checking account or charges your credit card. Activation of the monthly bank draft requires: first month’s payment*, a signed completed draft form and registration fee if it is a new membership.
  2. Annual Full Payment.

* The month always begins on the 20th. Prorated charges may apply depending on the day of the month.

Feel like you aren’t really sure of all that the YMCA has to offer?  Want to know more about programs and policies at the East Area Family YMCA?  Join us for a one hour session with our knowledgeable staff to learn all that your Y has to offer.  Registration is not required.

Monthly Bank Draft Membership Plan: (TOP)

Bank Drafts, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover drafts are the only ways the YMCA can accept monthly payments.  See the membership desk about our other convenient payment plans.

Membership For All : (TOP)

The YMCA of Greater Syracuse believes that everyone should have an opportunity to participate in membership and programs at any one of our three branches. Membership For All is available for those who may not have the ability to pay for YMCA stated fees.

An income-based membership for families and individuals with a household income that is less than $60,000, Membership For All is designed to fit everyone's financial situation based on a sliding scale format.

Membership Cards: (TOP)

Your YMCA photo ID membership card is your admission to the YMCA.  All facility members must have aYMCA photo ID membership card to access the facility. There will be a $5.00 fee for replacement cards.

Cancellation: (TOP)

A member on the APP plan may cancel their membership by informing the YMCA in writing and surrendering their membership card by the 5th of the month if they want their membership payments to cease. A temporary card will be issued until the cancellation becomes effective. Members terminating their bank draft will be permitted to use the YMCA for thirty days following their last full bank draft payment.

Members who are paid in full for 12 continuous months may cancel their membership by non-renewal. Annual membership fees are refundable on the unused portion of the membership with 15 days written notice and the surrender of membership card(s).

Guest Pass Policy: (TOP)

East Area Family YMCA members are welcome to bring guests under the following conditions:

  • Members requesting a guest pass must call 24 hours in advance with their guest's name, address and phone number. There is one guest limit per family.
  • Members are not allowed to bring guests to the East Area Family YMCA during these peak periods of usage: 3pm-7pm weekdays and 9am-1pm Saturdays.
  • Members are responsible for the behavior of their guests.
  • Members must accompany guests at all times when visiting the YMCA.
  • Members must stay in the building at all times with their guests.
  • Adult guests must present a valid picture I.D. for each visit to the YMCA and sign a liability waiver form upon entering the YMCA.
  • Each guest may visit the YMCA twice before they are required to join.
  • Members can bring guests that are visiting from out of town. They are not required to join after two visits to the facility.
  • Members 18 years of age and older can bring guests.

Age Requirement Policy: (TOP)

  • Facility
    Children age 7 and younger must be supervised by an adult (age 18 or older) or a YMCA Program Leader at all times and in all areas while at the YMCA (except in the case of special programs or classes). If a child is using the gym a parent should be present; however if enrolled in a swim lesson the adult does not have to be present.

    Children age 8 and older may use the facility without an adult present in the facility. Children and teens from 8-14 years of age must be directly supervised by an adult after 8 p.m., otherwise they must leave the YMCA facility.

  • Fitness Center/Free Weight Room
    YMCA members ages 12 - 16 may utilize the Fitness Center and Free Weight Room upon completion of the Youth/Teen Strength Orientation Program.Ages 17 and older are permitted on their own. See Member Service Desk for more information.


    An adult is someone 18 years of age or older.

Lockers & Locks (TOP)
For your protection, we strongly suggest using locks. Locks must be removed after each use. Please do not bring any valuables into the building. The YMCA is not responsible for any items lost or stolen.

26/26 (TOP)
The YMCA has released a new member category for working professionals. Our 26 for 26 program allows individuals to use the Y for only $26.00 per month if they earn less than $26,000 per year. This is for individual memberships only. This membership requires proof of income.

AWAY Program (Always Welcome At the YMCA) (TOP)

A benefit of being a member of a YMCA is the AWAY program. This program is designed to accommodate out of town YMCA members who want to continue their routine while they are away from home.

When traveling out of town, YMCA of Greater Syracuse - East Area Family YMCA members, may use YMCAs throughout the United States by presenting their membership card including the AWAY identification. To locate YMCAs participating in the AWAY program, and possible fees, contact the YMCA Membership Office or log onto the YMCA of the USA home page at www.ymca.net.

Members of YMCAs outside of a 50 mile radius are welcome to visit the East Area Family YMCA on the AWAY program 10 times in one year at no charge and will then be asked to pay $5 per visit. Proper identification and a signed waiver are required.

Members visiting from other YMCAs within a 50 mile radius will be charged $5 per visit. This includes Fulton, Auburn, Oneida, Tri-Valley, Utica/Rome, Oswego and Cortland. Proper identification and a signed waiver are required.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL AWAY members who wish to utilize Family Prime Time are required to pay the $5 non member rate.
