Camp Iroquois (TOP)

The oldest continuously operating Day Camp in the country!

The East Area Family YMCA’s outdoor summer day camp, Camp Iroquois, is available for children ages 3-14.  It runs for 2 week sessions..  Activities include archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, boating, sports, games horseback riding, nature studies, fishing, fine arts, character building, swim instruction, free swim, sleepovers, and more!

Camp Y-Noah (TOP)

Located at the North Area Family YMCA - Wetzel Road Liverpool

A Summer Experience That Lasts a Lifetime!

At Camp Y-Noah, children who have completed grades K - 6, enter a safe environment where they can enjoy a fun, active, and social atmosphere.  Camp runs for 9 weeks and children are grouped according to their last completed grade of school.  Register for 1 week or all 9, the choice is yours!  Camp Y-Noah is licensed by the NYS Health Department and all staff are carefully selected, screened and trained.

Registration is ongoing until sessions are full.

Y-Kids Camp General Info

Y-Kids Camp is an alternative to Camp Iroquois for children ages 4-8 who want to enjoy the experience of camp indoors.  Campers will enjoy themed activities each week that include arts and crafts, gym games, swimming and a weekly field trip.  Everyday, each camper will need to bring a bagged lunch, bathing suit and towel, snack and sneakers.

Extended care hours for Kids, Arts (weeks 1-7), and Sports Camp are located in the School-Age Child Care room from 7:00am-9:00 am and 4:00pm-6:00pm daily.  A light breakfast in the morning and a snack in the afternoon will be provided.  Please note that children must be picked up by 6:00 pm if they are to take part in the After Care program – no exceptions!  For more information on extended care, please contact Kerry Coleman, Child Care Director, at 637-2025 ext. 215.

 

Y-Kids Camp Themes

Summer 2008

 

Week 1: Go for the Gold Olympic Week (June 30-July 3 Camp closed on July 4)

 T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K is what is it all about this week as we reach for that gold medal.  Join us this week as we dream up countries, make our own Olympic games and kick off a summer of fun!

 

Week 2: Wild, Wild West (July 7-11)

 Howdy, Partner!  Saddle up and ride into the wild, wild Y West this week for a camp full of rowdy fun and cowboy hijinx.  Did you know there is gold hiding in the hills?  Come and find it with us!

 

Week 3: Going Buggy (July 14-18)

 Watch out for our summer sleuths as they walk around the Y bug catchers and magnifying glasses in hand.  We’ll be on the look out for squirmy creatures this week because we’re going buggy!

 

Week 4:  Splish, Splash Bash (July 21-25)

 Get wet and go wild this week as we spend our days playing in the pool, having water relays and water balloon tosses!  Campers will be hoppin’ to get soppin’!

 

Week 5:  Jungle Jam (July 28 – August 1)

 Red Lion, Red Lion come out of your den!  Red Lion, Red Lion come get your CAMPERS!  This week will be a wild safari adventure – come join in the ruckus!

 

Week 6:  Construction Production (August 4 – 8)

 Ever made an igloo out of nuudles?  Do you know what magnetix are?  Let’s construct the best week of summer as we build skyscrapers and castles with a variety of different materials.

 

Week 7:  Y-Heroes League (August 11 – 15)

 Discover your very own super powers this week at Y-Kids Camp!  You can make yourself into any hero you’d like to be as we design our own costumes, fight crime and dazzle each other with our super powers!

 

Week 8:  Camp Around the World (August 18 – 22)

 Come travel the world with us this week at camp!  We will try new foods, learn new games and have fun as we explore the wide world around us!

 

Week 9:  A Pirate’s Life for Me! (August 25 – 29)

 Ahoy there, matey!  Sail the Y-seas this week as we look for treasure, read maps and navigate our way through the hot summer days.  It will be the perfect adventure to end the summer!

Mini Artists & Athletes (Ages 3-6)

Session #1: June 16-19

Create and recreate at the East Area Family YMCA for four action-packed days! What do you do when pre-school has ended and summer hasn't begun? Send your 3-6 year olds to the Y for their own mini-programs.

Mini Artists & Athletes will be held Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.at the East Area Family YMCA's Arts Studio and Gym. While in the Arts, children will explore a variety of art media and techniques, with projects including ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and more! When participants are not getting messy in the Arts Studio, they will be active in the Gym. Sports will include soccer, basketball, baseball, running and creatvie hand-eye coordination drills that will keep your children moving. Participants will spend half of their time in the gym and half of their time in the Arts Studio while stopping for a snack in-between each day. Parents are welcome to leave the building during the times of this program. Before & After Care are not available. Each child should bring a snack, water bottle and be dressed appropriately for both the Arts and Sports (including sneakers).

Y Arts Camp

Y-Arts camp offers an array of creative projects in ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, creative writing, fiber arts, printmaking and more. Through self-expression and group work, the arts are a critical vehicle for accessing, enhancing and practicing strong values.Campers will work with professionally trained artists on projects that help develop and nurture their creatvie imaginations and expand their artistic abilities. Each session of Arts Camp will offer new experiences for campers, so kids can join us for multiple sessions and explore different projects and techniques each time. All skill levels are welcome to join. The last week of Camp Iroquois, we will also enjoy boating, hiking and the climbing wall! Mini-Artists

Sports Camp

Sports Camp explores various sports, games and activities for campers ages 8-12 in the East Area Family YMCA gymnasium. Campers will be challenged each day to try new things, as well as learning to work with others to accomplish individual and team goals. Camp includes themed days of sport-specific and skill-related activities, as well as large group games, swimming, and a field trip at the end of each week.
