Vision(TOP)
The East Area Family YMCA aquatic department is dedicated to offering current and new programs and activities in a safe, clean and fun aquatic environment for children, teens, adults and families with well-trained staff who are caring, responsible, respectful and honest.
The Water Watcher Program
The East Area Family YMCA in Collaboration with USA Safe kids proudly presents the Water Watcher Card. This card is for parents to wear when they bring their kids to the pool. The goal is for all parents to take an active role in watching their kids. This card assigns them the responsibility to be that person to watch their kids. If they have to leave the pool water they can designate a responsible person, friend, relative or partner with the water watchers card. This creates a solid form of communication on who is now responsible for watching the water. Remember any time someone goes to the water they must always “Swim with watchful eyes”. Contact Mathew Engineri, Aquatics Director at 637-2025 (ext. 217) for more information.

The primary objective for children aged 6 months to 3 years together with their parent/guardian participating in these levels is to get both the parent and their child comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the difference between moving through the water and on dry land, while the parent will become educated on how to work with his or her child to be safer in and around the water. Classes are designed to allow the child to have fun in the water while the parent guides them through the aquatic skills.
